Get me a scotch, I’m starving. Episode 10.

Podcast IconIn this episode of iconogeek Chuck and Jay discuss Ironman, but first…North Carolina vs. New York weather patterns and snow removal tactics are in order. The differences don’t stop there as Chuck’s incontrovertible theory about why NY pizza is the best in the world is let loose on an unsuspecting public.

Memories of perforated Pizza (yes, Ellio’s), toaster ovens, and childhood dinner schedules become the topic of conversation as Jay and Chuck announce the first iconogeek invention – the Pizza Pie.

The iconogeek food-fest continues with Jason’s freaky cereal exploits and connections to the even weirder cereal practices. During which we discover that the camera adds 75 pounds.

In the worst segue ever, Chuck tries to divert the conversation to Ironman, and the discussion turns to why they want to be Tony Stark’s friend and Jeff Bridges as a badassedness. The show wraps with Marvel’s upcoming slate.

I have a theory about ex-New Yorkers and their pizza. I have know enough people who have grown up here and relocated, hell Jim even relocated once just to make pizza out of state. They always seem to say the same thing. ” it took a while, but we finally found a place that makes good NY pizza. However, when you visit them, I have yet to go to one of these places with them and say to myself, wow, this really is just like NY pizza. My theory is based on the part of the statement ” it took a while “, and the theory is that you are not eating good pizza, you are just eating the best pizza in your particular part of the country. The fact that it took a while just indicates that you begin to experience diminished standards for what pizza should taste like. Now I’m not just throwing this out there, I speak from experience in both visiting others who have moved away, and in being a one time relocated New Yorker myself. As chuck knows, I lived in Florida for five years with Jim before we both moved back to the real world. I myself fell victim to the same pizza misconceptions that I speak of here. Every once in a while I would find a place down there that I would say, this is actually pretty good. Then I would come home for the holidays, or a party, or one of Ross, I mean Pollidoros Weddings, I would hit Branchanellis, and I would come crashing back down to pizza reality. Bottom line is there is pizza other places, but you gotta be in the Big Apple for good pizza.
That being said, I just listened to this podcast with Mia, and she wanted to know what an Ellios pizza was. Couldn’t believe my ears, so Im off to Stop and Shop. Mid 30′s and never had an Ellios, I guess thats what happens when you grow up in Ohio.

Oh yeah, my thoughts on the leader of the kidnappers from Iron Man. He is not dead, and will be back in future films as a version of the villian Mandarin.
Good podcast guys, I enjoyed it.
