ABRAMMMMMMSSSSSSS, ABRAMMMMMMMSSSSSSS. Pull camera back.
Alas, one of my favorite characters on Lost is gonna bite the bullet! Now of course it appears that the next 2 1/2 seasons will take place over about 3 -4 weeks (Since Sun made it off, that means she leaves the island in the next 3 weeks - based on Juliet’s timeline) so we still get a lot of Jin, but why kill him off? Thoughts? And what does this mean to the fate of everyone else? Are they also dead? This is the first time we’ve heard of someone who did NOT get off being actually dead. All other references where to “your friends” and “we have to go back” - nothing about anyone being alive.
OK, so how many of you thought that Jin was in a time loop and maybe lost his memory? Aaahhh hah! I thought so. Well, this appears to be the first episode of Lost that exists in 3 timelines: past, present, AND future. Take a look at the phone Jin was using (old school), he was only married for “2 months”, he was working for Mr. Paik (Sun’s father); and besides, Jin and Sun where going to the US after they got off the Island, not back to Korea. So we had flashbacks, flashforwards and current timeline.
I knew Michael was Ben’s contact as soon as he told Locke to “sit down” - My question is this…where is Walt? As far as I know Michael didn’t have any extended family did he? K, let’s get this discussion started…
So at the end of the episode they threw out that someone will die next week… it would be too predictable if it were Jin right away.
Also I have an alternate theory. Everyone that stayed on the island is claimed to be dead by the Oceanic 6. However I’m sure this isn’t true. The guy that visits Hurley convinced me that some of them remained on the island and they don’t want anyone finding out about them. Perhaps Jin had to stay on the island for some reason and did not actually die? Maybe their was only room for 6 people? She says how much she “misses him” and makes no mention of him dying…
Also we know that Witmore is trying to find the island and that Sayid and Ben are working together to take him or some shadow company down. Why would anyone be trying to keep all of these things hidden if they didn’t have anything (the people that stayed) to hide?
Just a thought, maybe I’m just being hopeful that they don’t kill off one of my favorites.
Oh also in reference to the time loop thing.. Crystal and I threw that idea around too but came up with the same issues… his hair, the phone, the 2 months married etc..
However Sun wanted to have her baby in Korea, she said she wanted to bring the baby up at ‘Home’.
I thought I read or heard somewhere that 8 left the island and 6 survived.
I knew Jin was gonna not be there. It would have been very unlike LOST to have it be so straight forward.
I agree with Jason, I think they’re paying their respects because they world still thinks they are dead. Which is why they have to keep the entire charade and pretend they are really dead even though they are still on the island.
That episode made me uncomfortable. I don’t like it when asian girls cry. :-/
Hmmm, I see your point, BUT there was the whole matter of the grave stone and “Let’s go see him”. Granted, she misses him andit could be because he’s still on the island, but unless he’s hiding a gamma radiated alter ego, why would the world need to think he’s dead?
I have to say as well that this episode had some excellent acting by Daniel Dae Kim, some of his best so far.
Also, it would be just like Benjamin Linus to fuck people over by forcing some off the island in some power play that I’m sure will be coming… We know he gets off the island, and he likely plays an integral part of how and who leaves with him… you can’t see him saying to Jin and Sun ‘we can only take one of you, you choose’. We know Jin would insist that Sun gets off the island regardless if it means he we’ll never see her again.
“This is the first time we’ve heard of someone who did NOT get off being actually dead.”
- Actually, since he’s buried in Korea, as the show implied, I think it’s a safe bet that he did get off, then died withing the remaining months of Suns pregnancy. Making the oceanic 6: Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sayaid, Sun and Jin. Ben and Arron, not counting officially, since they were never involved in the plain crash.
I don’t like it anymore than the rest of you. Jin was one of the last people I would want to see killed off, one of the few survivors that fall into the “not a fuck-up” category. But srsly guys, this whole Jin is stuck on the island thing - Denial. To get so emotional at the grave, hell to even go to a grave, would be pointless if he was alive back on mystery isalnd.
Is that really the Oceanic 6? Why would they kill off a major character AFTER he gets back? Seems pointless to do it then…
Also what about mystery dead guy with the funeral no one went to? Where does he fit into the equation?
well we don’t really know the circumstances of his death, also we don’t know that that scene is considered the “end” of the the lost story. From what we saw with Ben and Sayaid, there is clearly unfinished crap still going down.
I agree it would be stupid for the writers to kill him off at that point for no good reason, if it was a “normal” death, like a car crash or something. But what if his death is story related? There is still that weird stuff going on with the economist, what if Jin’s death was somehow involved. Or, what if he died protecting those still on the island? I know I’m just pulling at strings, but none of us really know the circumstances.
Mystery dead guy throws me for a loop. It would have to be either Locke, or Ben (granted this would have to take place after we see Ben alive, Maybe Widmore gets him after all).
Oh and just to add, regarding Michaels family, I’m pretty sure I remember him calling his mother on the phone some time in the 1st season, distressed over the whole “I have to pick up my son I havn’t seen for the past 10 years”. So i think he at least has a mother.
Guys, Jack said 8 survived the crash and 6 left the island when he was speaking on Kate’s behalf.
the date on the tombstone 2004.09.24 is the date the plane crashed.
I’m thinking these are the graves placed in order to remember the ones that “died”. Jin is still in the island as are the rest of them.
Also we’re forgetting that Michael and Walt are also part of the plane and one if not both might make it back. (Even though we havent seen Walt YET)
Double post, whee!!!
Oceanic Airlines Flight 815 departed from Sydney, Australia on September 22 2004, at 14:15, from gate 23, flying to Los Angeles, California, United States where it would arrive at 10:42. There were 324 passengers and crew members on board the Boeing 777.
The grave site definately said 9/24/04
So Jack’s story holds true
8 survived the crash
But only 6 of us made it back alive
2 came back in body bags
Jin is Dead
I have a feeling Walt is in the other body bag
His father Michael is working undercover for Ben
His mother is dead
No one showed up for his funeral
I need to replay that episode
But I could have sworn in the article that Jack read
it said something about his hometown being in NYC
WALT was born in NYC and hello!!??!?! small coffin?
Walt has been appearing in visions
But I think he’s dead and his “soul” or presence
is still on the island guiding them when he can
Also The kid actor had a growth spurt
He can’t come back to Lost ne way
so just kill him off and have him in visions
So the Oceanic six
Are Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sayid and Sun
Jin in a Body Bag
my gues is Walt in a body bag as well
Desmond doesn’t count … not on manifest
Ben doesn’t count … not on manifest
(of course with those passports he could claim that he was on the flight BUT why would he do that and gain all of that publicity when he wants Charles Widmore to think he’s dead?)
Aaron doesn’t count … again NOT on manifest
(BUT it was on the manifest that Claire was 8 months pregnant so could they have altered the manifest so that it would appear that Kate was pregnant? to work with the age of the child unless that was a far far forward)
Dec 24th is when Desmond called
4 months after the plane crash
How long will they be on the island until they officially get off?
The third trimester is 27 - 42 weeks into pregnancy
That would mean Sun is at 24 weeks since
(which means she is 6th month pregnant on the island)
Juliet said once you hit your 1st week you will start to feel sick
So they get off the island in what 2 weeks?
Sun has her baby in two months?
Sorry double post like Cesar
I know it’s the Oceanic 6
But I think 1 living survivor hasn’t been revealed yet
Didn’t they say 2 more off the island in last weeks episode?
They didn’t specify alive… or dead
I’m with Cesar on this one especially if the tombstone date and the date of the crash are the same. They didn’t bring bodies back with them, I think we can be pretty sure of that if they’re claiming only 8 survived the crash. If the date on the tombstone is the same, Jin is part of the charade that he died when the plane went down and he’s still back on the island.
Also if we’re going to believe the captain in some way and that plane was ’staged’ someone is sure as hell going to try and silence the fact that their was survivors. I think some sort of deal was worked out to get some people off the island in exchange for their silence. Sayaid and Ben may still be working to get those people off the island.
Damn the crash date and his tombstone are the same
Crash was 9/22/2004
Jin’s Tomb stone says the same
If they didn’t bring back the dead
then who is in that coffin?
Someone that survived but the died after reaching the main land?
ok the img tag didn’t work

That is an image grab of his tomb stone
All sounds plausible, I think Walt may be the mystery dead guy. If I remember correctly Michael was working construction and not making much money. That would play into the lower rent district that the funeral parlor was in. Maybe that’s were his mother lived? Jack I think woudl be the only one to go to Walt’s wake. Hurley wouldn’t, Sun would be in Korea, Kate would be with Aaron, and Sayid’s on a killing spree.
Anyway, Was anyone else thrown for a loop about how forthcoming the captain was? I mean this is Lost for christ’s sake, they NEVER give that much exposition. He basically laid it out - no evasiveness. hmmmm.
After my first viewing of last nights incredible episode I was shocked that Jin died. But then I thought, it makes more sense that they would reveal only 1 at a time from now on. I can’t imagine that Walt or Michael have any inclusion in this group because they are now part of Ben’s camp (sort of) therefore there must be 1 more survivor including in the oceanic 6 missing.
Who’s left??
Well remember Bernard talking to Jin about Rose. Rose wants to get off the island. She’s already proven that she has some psychic capabilities. However limited they may be, compared to Walt. A few similarities made between Jin and Bernard in that episode. Can Rose be the 6th? She’s already befriended Jack, as far back as early season 1. I can’t imagine Bernard making it off. He’s shown his love for rogue espionage.
I like Jin a lot too, but I implore you to dry your tears…he’s clearly got a lot of work to do, getting his pregger wife off the island and all. Plus, knowing that he bites it, must soften the blow a bit.
I totally thought the same thing about Jin’s mind getting lost in time at first! LOL. I guess we Lost viewers now think *too deeply* about this stuff.
Ugh, I hear that… I can’t believe how much time I spend talking and typing about this damn show.
They better have something really good to wrap all this stuff up.
