As I sit here, on the train waiting for my station to come up. I managed to watch the first episode for the third time; this time slot of subtleties have surfaced.

The main one that relates to this post the most is the idea that Jacob could possibly be Jack’s father. Even though the similarities of not only the facial features as well as the attire this “jacob” is wearing seem to match that of Jack’s father ( refer to season one when Jack’s father is spotted on the beach ), we can not forget what “Jacob” resembled in our first encounter with him (previous season when Ben and Locke were in the cabin) he very much looked like an older version of Locke, the very same person who saw him.

But ofcourse this time it wasn’t Jack that saw Jacob it was supersticious/clearly crazy Hugo.

    Which raises three questions:

    - is jacob’s appearance based on a personal, more intimate level?

    - If so was Walt (in the ditch full of corpses), the black stalion and other appearances that the survivors encountered from time to time a manifestation of Jacob aswell?

    - why was jack wearing that same outfit as Jacob (Hugo’s version) when he went to speak to Hugo?

Finally please notice that at the end of the episode, Locke says “The others have abandoned the Barracks…”, the only other time the barracks was empty was when the Others killed everyone in the Dharma group and moved in. Now Locke and his group are moving into the barracks in a similar way.

Also notice whenever there is rebirth/renewal in the island, it rains.

Note the LA Skyline at the end of the episode as well (its in the water, as a mirror oposite of the island)

    A. I like the theory that its based on who you are as to what you see.

    B. Multiple people have seen Walt, so that kind of spins the question in another fashion. Is the island manifesting this imagery independent of the individual based on knowledge of what has occurred with its current residents?

    C. Have a shot of Jack when he went to see Hugo? Not sure it was the same thing other than a suit. Was the tie the same?

Jesus, absolutely NOTHING is a coincidence on this show. I love it!

Jack’s tie brings up an intriguing conundrum. If Jack had the tie on in the future, How would Hugo know that tie? Could this have anything to do with the “magic box” that Ben spoke about last season (and brought Locke’s father to the island)?

There seems to be some evidence of time travel/warping/skewing…I just watched the second episode of the season so it seems odd that this Sam/Dan Faraday character found the entire wreckage of flight 815 down in the Sunda Trench. If you checked out find815.com and played that game Sam was looking for his fiancee to be who was a flight attendant on the plane…in the show Sam/Dan is crying while watching the news…yet he is asked by some woman why he is upset…his reply is that he doesn’t know why…is there some alternate universe that Dan/Sam is experiencing or interacting with that is causing his emotions to run amok. He states to Jack that he is a physicist, yet in the find815.com stuff he is some kind of mechanical engineer…maybe I am way off base on this, and need to rethink my theory…but I’m going with the time travel thing…also, that palientology chick found a dharma insignia (for the hydra) around the neck of a polar bear in the middle of the desert…which clearly happened many years prior…where is this all going? I don’t think i’m smart enough to watch this show…I’m faclemp…
